Winter Park Florida by Tillotson Design Associates
The Winter Park Library stands as a beacon for the community after dark with the monumental, sloping forms of the library, event center, and entry pavilion softly up-lit by low-brightness, in-grade accent lights that fan out from the edges and frame the primary entries. Discreet, pole-mounted accent lights provide a soft moonlight effect at the lawn and waterside amphitheater while receding into the adjacent landscape. A discreet system of low-brightness linear fixtures and point sources integrated within the arched ceiling structure complement the indirect daylight within reading and gathering spaces. The spacing of the ceiling structure and position of the library stacks are carefully coordinated to allow shelving areas and adjoining program areas to be efficiently lit from above without the need for dedicated task light.
