Bukhara, Uzbekistan by Les Éclaireurs
The first edition of the Biennale de Boukhara makes it possible to develop several rich lighting projects in parallel. Thus, problems of scenography, public spaces and events intersect. The exhibition venues and works presented during the event are highlighted following a continuous dialogue with the artists, from conception to installation. Around the Biennale, the historic city center of Boukhara, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is highlighted by a new design of interior and exterior lighting. A soft white light of 2700K is installed in public spaces. On the old facades, a lighting in white variation and controlled by a DMX protocol is designed. Finally, for the evening of the gala dinner, during the opening of the Biennale, a specific highlight is thought of. In the summer palace is deployed an event scene made of candles, lights and projector drawing romantic paths, evoking a reception in the sultan’s house. The atmosphere of the site is thus transformed, with for example in the main howz (central basin), blue grazing lighting and flaming pots. At the foot of the historic wooden tower, a dance stage is installed to accommodate a DJ set.
