A new extended-stay retreat, “THE PASONA natureverse retreat,” has opened its doors in a rich natural environment surrounded by the sea and mountains at the northern tip of Awaji Island.
We took distinct lighting approaches for the east and west facades to enhance their individual characteristics. On the curved front facade, floodlights were utilized to emphasize the architectural volume. Conversely, linear lighting was deployed on the seaside facade to accentuate its horizontal lines, creating an effect as if the building were floating in the night sky. Passing through the entrance characterized by its distinctive lattice pattern, guests are welcomed by an atrium bathed in pleasant natural light during the day. As night falls, the entire space is enveloped in a cozy warmth of light, transforming into a special landscape woven by light and shadow.
