Salt Galata

Istanbul, by ONOFF Lighting Design

Salt’s lighting design project, realized in collaboration with ON|OFF, offers visitors a chance to explore the architectural features of Salt Galata from different perspectives with a play of light and shadow that represents the solar cycle. The atmospheric presence and spectrum of light emphasize the layers of the building, while the shadows make the viewer feel a part of the space.

The Salt Galata building was designed by French-Levantine architect Alexandre Vallauri to house the headquarters of the Imperial Ottoman Bank between 1892-1999. Having undergone a series of structural modifications over time, the building was repurposed and began serving as Salt Galata in November 2011.
