7 Burlington Gardens has stood in Mayfair for three centuries, between New Bond Street and Savile Row, opposite the Royal Academy of Arts. On Saturday, it opened to the public once again as RH London, The Gallery in Mayfair.
Light shapes the building’s façades, its galleries, and its hospitality spaces. The former banking hall, now home to The Dining Room, rises to columns close to eight metres beneath a gold leaf coffered ceiling, with tiered chandeliers of hand blown Venetian glass hung from mirrored skylights above. On the second floor, The Perch, designed by Anouska Hempel, brings its own register entirely, an interior of smoked glass and blackened églomisé walls opening onto a terrace of laurel trees and glass birdcages.
A huge project for the Foundry team, and a real privilege to light a building of this scale and history. Congratulations to everyone involved!
