Dan Flavin dedications of light

Art Museum Basel by mati LICHTESTALTUNG

The exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Basel, however, focuses on seeing Flavin’s oeuvre in a more unknown context: his works often contain references to concrete events in the titles, such as war atrocities or police violence, or are dedicated to other artists – for example, the untitled work (in memory of Urs Graf), which immerses the courtyard of the main building in colorful light every evening. With the large special exhibition at the Kunstmuseum Basel, the curators take a closer look at these narrative strategies based on works and series from Flavin’s entire work and invite you to a sensual journey through his unique work.
