Basel by Reflexion
The striking high-rise by the Basel architects Herzog & de Meuron is located directly on the Rhine on the northeastern edge of the Novartis Campus next to the Dreiosen Bridge. It represents the connection between the campus and the Rhine promenade. On the side facing the river is a public restaurant, which looks like a massive pedestal for the up-and-coming building.
The Asklepios 8 building virtually doubles the height of the building provided for in the master plan in a three-storey volume, which is clearly legible from the outside. Filigree-appearing, seemingly countless round supports staggered in depth make the facade visually flicker.
