Hangzhou-Tangqi Ancient Town

By Zhejiang Province Institute of Architectural Design and Research

In recent years, with the rapid development of the era and economy and the background of urbanization and tourism boom, the problem of excessive lighting has become more and more prominent. At night, due to the low color temperature and high brightness of the lighting, it looks like daytime. Therefore, in lighting design, we aim to create a lighting atmosphere that represents “history”, “culture”, and “livability” for the goal of “the model ancient town on the Grand Canal in China, and the ecological livable new area in Hangzhou urban area”. We make it an important node representing the Grand Canal cultural belt at night. The overall color temperature is mainly low to medium, and the brightness is controlled at level two. In the end, we aim to protect the original landscape and architectural pattern, and express the elegance and historical sedimentation of the ancient town through the lighting design, ensuring appropriate brightness and orderly brightness and darkness, and evoking human feelings.

Sustainability Approach

Light source and lamps: All lamps used in this project are LED lamps, and the lamps and their power supply meet the internationally regulated energy efficiency limit values, energy-saving evaluation values, and the limits for harmonic currents. The protection grade of outdoor lamps is not lower than IP65, and the protection grade of the buried lamps is not lower than IP67. The power factor of the lighting lamps is not less than 0.9. For the visible light source within the normal viewing angle range, effective anti-glare measures are adopted to strictly control the light within the lighting range and limit the production of interference light from the lamps. The spillover light outside the illuminated area does not exceed 15%.
